The owner, Dr. Rachel Headley, has almost two decades of experience in satellite data science and management. While a small part of our business, we are continually involved in instruction, proposal development, user assessments, and community building.
For the past 8 years, Rachel has been a part of a wonderful team of professional women and men who were awarded two Advanced Technological Education grants from the National Science Foundation: integrated Geospatial Education Technologyand Training (DUE# 0703185) and integrated Geospatial Education Technology and Training – Remote Sensing (DUE# 1205069). These two grants have delivered remote sensing training to largely 2-year community college GIS instructors. By teaching these incredibly talented and dedicated teachers about satellite data, we aim to enable students to enter the workforce with additional geospatial skills. Team partners include Osa Brand (NCGE), Ann Johnson (GeoTech Center), Jeannie Allen (SSAI located at NASA GSFC), and Chris Cruz (West Valley College). Summer institutes were generously hosted at USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
